2012 Schedule as of 1/5/2012:
.
Over the last few days, most of the GEVA Region tournaments have gotten back to us with confirmations. 15s did not get into the tournament on February 25th, so we're now registered for a tourament on 4/1/12, the week before 15s head down for NEQ.
Also, we have registered 4 teams for MLK Kickoff Classic in Lancaster, PA. We won't know AM/PM Wave information until it will be posted around the 13th or so. (That makes everyone have to plan on booking their room Friday night, instead of driving down on Saturday morning, even if they won't play until 2:00 PM on Saturday.)
MLK Classic - Lancaster PA, January 14, 15, and 16
3 Day Format. First 2 days are Wave Format, where teams play in 4 team pools with either a morning start (typically 8 or 9 AM) or an afternoon start (typicaly 2 or 3 PM). AM Wave teams will have team dinners afterwards, and PM Wave teams will have to scope out restaurants that will still be open for the late hours. Generally teams try to get together for dinners late as well, so prepare for some late nights, Parents! Last year, I believe the 15s and 17s played in the same wave, and the 16s and 18s played in the same wave. No guarantees that they'll use the same timeframes. I believe their scheduling is based on how many teams register at each age group.
NEQ - Baltimore MD
3 Day Format. AM/PM Wave Format typically as well.
15s play April 7-9, Gaylord National Hotel and Convention Center
National Harbor, MD
16s play March 31st to April 2nd, Baltimore Convention Center
Baltimore, MD
17s and 18s play April 6-8, Baltimore Convention Center
Baltimore, MD.
We have until late January before we have to register for this event, so will review our results at MLK and determine what levels we want to compete in at that time.
Happy Volley - Penn State University, PA, May 26-28
3 Day Format. AM/PM Wave Format. Players and Chaperones stay in non-air conditioned dorms. Any parents that want to stay in the dorms as well, please let me know as we'll have to book dorm rooms when we register our teams in March when they typically open the tournament registration.
Registration for this tournament will require players and coaches to sign up for AAU, and pay a membership fee there of roughly $12. I've been doing that each year, but they seem to want individual players to register this year rather than clubs to register players as I've been doing each year. More information will be made available as we get closer to this date.
