Years of Experience Matter...
From Coach Roman: There's a big difference between 17 years of experience, and the same experience repeated over and over for 17 years. Over my years, I've worked with all ages from kindergarten through adults, and all levels from beginners through professionals, developing a unique perspective on what is and isn't important in player and team development.
I'm looking to share my experience with coaches who want to take advantage of some of the shortcuts and strategies I offer, and with players who want to improve not only their physical skills, but their ability to make quick, sound decisions on the court.
They say 80% of life is showing up. However, the most important part of that true concept is generally left unsaid. The key is "on time." Learning to read situations, think circumstances through quickly to understand what's going on, and anticipate early enough that you can be at the right place at the right time, makes all the difference in the world.
Teams I've coached on have won dozens of tournaments, several Old Dominion Regional championships, multiple East Coast Championships, finished in the top 10 teams at Boys Junior Olympics Nationals multiple times, qualified for Girls Open Junior Olympics Nationals out of the GEVA region, and had a lot of fun along the way while working very hard!
As a player, I've also both won and lost hundreds of doubles, triples, quads, and sixes tournaments on the East Coast, West Coast, and throughout the Midwest at all different levels over the last 20 years.
Our coaching staff brings well over 100 years of volleyball experience into the gym with us, and each coach will be working with all of the players in the program sharing insights, experiences, and offering feedback and advice to help every player gain as much from our century plus of experience. This year's Legion Volleyball coaches have extensive playing and coaching experience working with high school aged and adult players, as well as experience running camps and clinics, Coaches on our staff have played at Juniors Nationals, have made it to the Men's NCAA Final 4 Championships, have won professional beach volleyball tournaments, and have literally won and lost hundreds of additional tournaments over the years as well. Most of our coaches have been involved with volleyball since before any of our current players were born. And that kinda makes us feel old some days... :)
